Accreditation Standards
Standard One: Person-Centered Approach
Demonstrates an organization-wide application of person-centered thinking - from language to best practices to planning - as an integral part of the Technology First approach.
Standard Two: Organizational Commitment
Demonstrates an organization-wide commitment to technology adoption and implementation including enhancements to organizational infrastructure, efforts to gain widespread support among stakeholders, and pursuit of continuous improvement.
Standard Three: Technology Team
Provides evidence of an active Technology Team with clear member expectations, responsibilities, and priorities.
Standard Four: Communication
Communicates a commitment to the Technology First approach to all stakeholders; addresses related concerns/disputes; and, provides timely updates to the appropriate stakeholders.
Standard Five: Education
Demonstrates a comprehensive approach to providing Technology First education which includes strategies for addressing turnover.
Standard Six: Organizational Documentation
Identifies what data will be collected, the method for gathering it, who will analyze the data and how that data will be used to guide organizational decisions.
Standard Seven: Funding, Purchasing & Billing
Identifies and secures options for funding the Technology First initiative and implements supporting purchasing and billing systems.
Standard Eight: Assessment
Completes screenings, intakes and assessments in alignment with Technology First best practices which includes identification of outcomes, conflict resolution and matching technology to the person’s skills and preferences.
Standard Nine: Implementation
Implements technology according to Technology First best practices which includes the development of a technology plan, inclusion in the ISP and setup of/training on the device/system.
Standard Ten: Due Process
Provides evidence that potentially restrictive technologies are not implemented without due process.
Standard Eleven: Maintenance & Repair
Provides resources and systems for the implementation of maintenance and repair protocols for enabling technology which includes responding to and addressing failures and outages.
Standard Twelve: Backup Systems
Develops clear and realistic backup systems to be used in the event of a technology failure or outage.
Standard Thirteen: Technology Vendors
Implements a process for screening, identifying and securing qualified technology vendors.
Standard Fourteen: Provisions for Specific Types of Technologies
Provides policies & procedures that address the use of cameras, medication management technologies, environmental modifications, and/or remote supports that are in alignment with best practices.
